Group leader

Prof. Yin has held positions as Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor in Physical Geography at Beijing Normal University since 2010. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Rural Planning & Environmental Sciences from Beijing Normal University in 2003, and her Ph.D. in Physical Geography from the same university in 2008.

Prof. Yin has postdoctoral experience at the Beijing Climate Center, part of the China Meteorological Administration (2008.08–2010.07), and served as Senior Technical Consultant for the National Soil Erosion Survey conducted by the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China (2011.08–2012.01). She has been a visiting scholar with the Oxford Programme for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems (OPSIS) at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom (2023.11–present), the Center for Survey Statistics and Methodology (CSSM) at Iowa State University in the United States (2014.08–2016.08), and the Regional Climate Group (RCG) at Gothenburg University in Sweden (2005.11-2006.10, 2008.12-2009.03).

She teaches several courses, including Meteorology and Climatology, and Climate Change for undergraduate students, as well as Climate Change and Environmental Impact Assessment and Modern Physical Geography for graduate students. Her research mainly focuses on developing statistical and dynamical downscaling methodologies and datasets for climate services and climate adaptation, rainfall erosivity and regional soil erosion assessment.
